Engineers and trade professionals visit thousands of homes each year - many in areas facing deep social and economic hardship.

During their visits, they often encounter early warning signs of wider issues: fuel, food, or digital poverty; unsafe home environments such as ripped carpets, or leaking taps; and residents showing signs of isolation or vulnerability.

Yet, despite these regular encounters, Engineers are not typically trained to recognise or respond to these challenges.

Critically, there is often no clear process or procedure for them to escalate concerns or connect residents with appropriate support services - meaning vital early intervention opportunities are frequently missed.
